Chapter 16: What is Going on?

**At the end of the chapter, there'll be a bit of pic spam for the house.  I meant to add it to the end of the last chapter, but I forgot.**

Not long after Chase's birthday, Brent grew tired of his outrageous hairstyle and by the time Prom rolled around he had opted for something easy to maintain. Tanya was glad to see his style had started to become a bit more tame as well. She wanted her kids to have the freedom to express themselves though so she kept her thoughts about his style to herself. Besides it could be worse, she told herself, he could have been one of those kids that sagged their pants.

Tanya thought both boys looked extremely handsome the night of Prom. She just couldn't believe how old they were getting. Brent didn't have a date so he was glad that Chase was finally old enough to join him. The boys had a great time at the dance. Chase even managed to win a spot on the Prom Royalty court just like his big brother Anderson! Poor Brent though, had his heart broken when he asked his crush to dance and she rejected him.

After his Prom heartache, Brent threw himself back into discovering new potions on his chemistry set. While he had finally come to terms with the fact he was probably never going to create a cloning potion for his father, he had found a love for science in the process. The possibilities were almost endless. From the smallest prank potions to incredible feats of science, such as when he turned himself into a ghost for a few hours.

The week after the boys went to Prom, Tanya quietly had a birthday. She didn't want anyone to know about this one. She was now in her middle age and started to worry that she was getting old. During this mid life crisis, her first order of business was returning to the racy clothing she wore before Anderson was born. Short skirts and shirts with plenty of cleavage. And of course, her favorite knee high black leather boots.

The next thing she did was head to the local nightclub.  Tanya had read that the place was suppose to be packed that night as there were several popular bands playing. Tanya was surprised when the bouncer ushered her into the VIP section, she had figured with a night like this she'd need to be an A list celeb to get in there.  She headed straight towards the bar for a stiff drink to get the night started and then stopped dead in her tracks...

Tanya couldn't believe it. There was the man with the glowing eyes from her dreams! Wait, wasn't this the same bar she was at the night Grady had died? Was he here that night? Who the hell was this man? Or better yet, what was he? Why can't she remember? The more questions that raced through her head, the dizzier she felt. Tanya felt the room start to spin and she stumbled forward a bit, trying to make sense of everything. She felt this strange sensation, like she was no longer in control of her own actions.

The next thing Tanya can remember is standing in the upstairs computer area, staring at a strange piece of art. The painting seemed to be depicting a girl in all black, running from something, or trying to deflect something. Tanya wasn't quite sure what the painting meant and was shocked when Anderson told her she had stayed up all night painting it on the easel overlooking the backyard.

The more time Tanya spent around the painting, the more restless she felt. It was as if the painting was trying to tell her something, and she just couldn't understand its whispers yet. Maybe it held the secret to what happened the night the triplets were conceived. Maybe it could explain who or what their father was. And maybe, just maybe it could help her get through to Callie before it was too late.
